About Edition Handdruck
Edition Handdruck is a handpress venture started in 2006 by Martin and Ulrike Stankewitz. Martin is an artist printmaker who develops monotype prints from his drawings and sketches done outdoors.
Apart from printmaking Edition Handdruck is ready for commissioned work of architecture and landscape depictions (Illustrations).
Furthermore we offer a steadily increasing number of reproduction prints
on demand for private or corporate clients. Please do not hesitate to contact us for inquiries about original work or reproductions of images shown on our weblogs.
About our monotype prints
All monotype prints are done by Martin Stankewitz and have been printed from a glassplate fully by hand. I have put up an english spoken description of the process at My monotypes on Squidoo
Specific properties of our monotype prints
As the whole process is done by hand there can be little traces of oil colors or fingerprints on the unprinted areas of the print. Typically there are also some slight traces of the tool I use to transfer the oil color by rubbing on the backside of the papersheet.
I use a 170gr/sqm paper in natural white. Of course I try
to adjust the images on our websites as much as possible to the real colors. However the originals are always slightly different and the digital images for webdisplay mostly do not show the rich detail of the originals.
